Minister of State for Education Jasmin Lau said on July 26 that schools must help students practise discernment, problem-solving, and effective communication as AI makes information instantly accessible. Speaking at a public engagement session organised by Lianhe Zaobao and supported by the Ministry of Education, she noted that while such skills are already taught, the education system needs to examine more rigorously how to cultivate and assess them. Parents and educators at the session also called for less emphasis on grades and for creating safe spaces where children can experience and learn from failure.
