NDR 2026: Singapore PM Wong announces nearly S$70,000 in support per child and major housing changes

At the National Day Rally on 23 August 2026, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong unveiled a new SG Child Support Package providing almost S$70,000 per child from birth to age 17, replacing the Baby Bonus and Large Families Scheme from April 2027. BTO income ceilings for families were raised from S$14,000 to S$16,000, with an extra HDB ballot chance per Singaporean child for first-timer families. Wong also announced plans to merge Semakau, Bukom and Pulau Sudong into a new island for advanced manufacturing and power infrastructure over the coming decades.
