Ramu Palani Velu, a Singapore permanent resident and director of KPA Engineering, SK Industries, and five other local companies, returned to Singapore on 28 June 2026 after hundreds of migrant workers at those firms went without pay for months. Minister of State for Manpower Dinesh Vasu Dash confirmed that Mr Velu is assisting with investigations and his passport has been impounded. Workers from KPA Engineering, SK Industries, and VVR Plant Engineering were among those affected, with MOM directing those owed salaries to the Tripartite Alliance for Dispute Management.
